In Astoria, Queens, New York City, the elevated subway trains are a giant character in the middle of the neighborhood and I wanted to find a way to capture the rumble of standing on the platform as a train enters the station. The photograph was taken multiple times, several seconds apart from each other, then layered askew to give the feeling of the gyrating station.
"30th Ave" immediately became a staple in my portfolio and captured the attention of art collectors and local enthusiasts. It has quickly become my most popular creative print to sell. The final image you see is the result of 3 individual photos digitally layered. The "ghosting" effect of the subway cars and the uneven layering of the images was done to visually create the feeling you have while a train barrels into the station. In 2012, I was honored to have the image featured on the cover of BORO Magazine.
In 2013, a Limited Edition Canvas Gallery Print was developed. There are ONLY 50 copies of the 24"x36" canvas print, which features a 1.5" wood frame with supports, high quality canvas, an installation kit, mounting tools & level included.
